Sam Glover, a seasoned extreme sports enthusiast, hails from a small village in South Wales and has an unquenchable love for the ocean. From building beautiful homes in amazing locations to creating fantastic workspaces for the film and TV industry, Sam has always been drawn to dynamic and challenging pursuits.

Jake Chapman, an esteemed artist, was the other half of this formidable duo. Although he has stepped back from the rowing expedition, his influence and contribution to the project remain significant.

The duo-turned-solo endeavour is far from a pleasure cruise. Rowing the Atlantic is a challenge that demands fortitude, determination, and an ability to endure unpredictable elements. The journey will take Sam from San Sebastian in La Gomera all the way to Antigua in the Caribbean, rowing 3,000 miles unassisted across the Atlantic.

The voyage is fraught with formidable challenges. From contending with monstrous 40-foot waves to battling dehydration and sunstroke, the journey is a test of both physical and mental endurance.

Meet ‘Lucy’ - Sam’s OCEAN ROWING Boat

Enter 'Lucy', the R25 model specially designed by Rannoch Adventure. This vessel will serve as Sam's shelter, safety, and life support during the many weeks he will spend on the water.

Designed to be one of the fastest pairs rowing boat available today, 'Lucy' is also equipped to self-right in case of a capsize. It houses a solar-powered desalination unit, a life raft, a complete medical kit, and enough storage to carry dehydrated meals for the entire journey!

The Entrepreneur Ship 2023 is not merely about conquering the Atlantic. It's about making a difference. Sam is undertaking this incredible challenge for UnLtd charity, the UK's leading supporter of socially-minded entrepreneurs. The goal is to raise £250,000 for this noble cause.

OCEAN ROWING Training & Preparation

To prepare for this expedition, Sam and Jake underwent rigorous training. From mastering navigation to learning to tie essential knots, the duo worked meticulously to equip themselves with the necessary skills. They even got a chance to be trained at the prestigious Leander Rowing Club at Henley on Thames

The Journey So Far…

Out on the water, Sam and Jake have had their fair share of trials and triumphs. From navigating through fog and passing cargo ships during a 48- hour practice row to discovering the importance of sunscreen the hard way, every experience has been a stepping stone towards the big day.
